About the Journal
Soziale Welt is one of the leading sociological journals in the German-speaking world. In addition to publishing theoretical and empirical research, this long-established journal aims to give new impetus to sociology through programmatic contributions—such as those published in the past by renowned authors such as Hans Albert, Ralf Dahrendorf, Karl-Dieter Opp, Renate Mayntz, and Helmut Schelsky—and to actively shape the development of the discipline. With this call for papers, we would like to inform you about current changes in terms of content and personnel and invite you to submit your latest research work.
Contributions to Soziale Welt should be characterized by an empirical focus based on sound theoretical considerations and aim to describe, explain, and understand social conditions, contexts, and changes on the basis of qualitative and/or quantitative data.
The following are explicitly desired:
- Original theoretical contributions that provide new impetus for empirical research (e.g., formulation of testable hypotheses, identification of blind spots in existing empirical research, work on concepts with consequences for empirical research)
- Original contributions based on qualitative and/or quantitative data that are committed to the outlined understanding of science
- Contributions that follow on from original contributions published in Soziale Welt and other social science journals in the form of replications and comments,
- Systematic reviews and meta-analyses, and
- Programmatic contributions that give new impetus to the social sciences and actively shape their development.
The following advantages speak in favor of submitting to Soziale Welt:
- Publication in a renowned and long-established journal
- Systematic quality assurance through double-blind peer review
